Upright food displays put several shelves of food in front of the customer at eye level, so a convenience store, service station, hospital cafe or grab-and-go counter can sell from a tall cabinet instead of a long counter.

Upright units come chilled, heated and ambient. See cold food displays, hot food displays and ambient food displays for the formats.

These are the top FAQs for Upright Food Displays

Why choose upright over counter-top?

More product in the same floor space, at eye level. The trade-off is that staff cannot reach over it to serve.

See counter top food displays.

Chilled, heated or ambient?

Follow the food: anything with dairy, meat or seafood needs chilled, cooked hot food needs heated, and bread and packaged goods are fine ambient.

Open or glass door?

Open cabinets shift more stock per metre in grab-and-go, because there is no door between the customer and the food. A glass door costs less to run and still shows the stock. Most sites use open at the front and doors down the side.

See commercial open display fridges.

How much clearance does it need?

Manufacturer clearances at the back and top, and no stock above the load line. Both are common causes of a cabinet never reaching temperature.

Dimensions are on each product page.

What stock suits an upright display?

Packaged, fast-moving lines: sandwiches, drinks, snacks and pre-packed meals.

Drinks sit better in commercial drink fridges.

How do I know a door seal has gone?

Ice around the frame, condensation on the glass or a seal that no longer grips a sheet of paper closed in the door. A failing seal makes the unit run constantly.

Seals are replaceable on most cabinets, and it is a cheaper fix than a service call for a unit that will not hold temperature.
