A stainless steel commercial fridge is where a working kitchen keeps its chilled stock, and the steel is why it suits the job: the surface wipes down, resists corrosion in humid conditions and takes knocks from trolleys, trays and staff in a hurry. Commonly listed as a commercial refrigerator stainless steel model, or simply a stainless commercial fridge, it is the same specification either way.

The range covers every format. Commercial upright fridges for bulk back-of-house storage, commercial under bench fridges for the line, and commercial under counter fridges where the fridge doubles as bench space.

These are the top FAQs for Stainless Steel Commercial Fridge

Why choose stainless steel over a painted or laminated cabinet?

Durability and hygiene. Stainless resists corrosion, does not chip the way a painted finish does, and cleans back to bare metal with ordinary kitchen sanitiser. In a room that is hot, wet and busy, that matters more than the price difference.

Painted and laminated cabinets are usually fine front of house, where appearance matters more than wear. Behind the pass, a stainless commercial refrigerator lasts longer, which is why most commercial under counter fridges and commercial freezers are built the same way.

What grade of stainless steel is used in commercial refrigeration?

304 is the food-safety grade used in Australian commercial kitchens, and it is what you will find on most cabinets and interiors in this range. Exact construction is listed on each product page.

Grade is only half the story. How the unit is built - the door seals, the hinges, the shelf supports - decides how it holds up over years of service.

Does a stainless steel fridge cost more to run?

No. Running cost comes from the refrigeration system, the insulation and the door seals, not the cabinet material. Units in our energy efficient fridges range use modern refrigerants and tighter seals to cut the compressor duty cycle.

If the fridge runs long hours, that specification is where the savings are. Where appearance matters as much as durability, commercial glass door fridges put the stock itself on show with stainless framing the display.

How do I keep a stainless steel fridge looking good?

Wipe with warm soapy water and a soft cloth in the direction of the grain, then dry it. Avoid chlorine-based cleaners and steel wool, which pit the surface and are the usual cause of rust spots on stainless.

Keep the condenser area free of dust for the same reason you would on any fridge: airflow is what stops the unit working harder than it needs to. The same care applies to stainless steel equipment across the kitchen.

Does stainless steel rust?

It resists corrosion but is not immune. Rust spots usually come from chlorine cleaners, steel wool or salt left on the surface rather than from the steel itself.

Clean with mild detergent and avoid bleach-based products; see commercial kitchen cleaning supplies.

Is the interior stainless too?

Not always. Many cabinets have a stainless exterior with an aluminium or ABS interior, which is lighter and cheaper. Check the construction on the product page if you want stainless throughout.

Full stainless interiors take knocks from trays better.

What grade should I look for?

304 is the food-safety grade used in Australian commercial kitchens. Beyond grade, how the cabinet is built decides how long it lasts: hinges, shelf supports and seals.

Does stainless cost more to run?

No. The cabinet material has no effect on running cost; the refrigeration system and seals decide it.
