A commercial mop sink is where mop buckets get filled and emptied, kept away from the sinks used for food and dishes. That is what keeps floor water and floor chemicals out of the pot sink and the hand basin, and it gives staff one place to go at the end of a clean-down.

Our commercial kitchen mop sinks come floor-mounted or wall-mounted, in stainless steel, which holds up to the strong cleaning products that go into them. Order online with delivery anywhere in Australia.

These are the top FAQs for Commercial Stainless Steel Kitchen Mop Sinks

What types of mop sink do you stock?

Floor-mounted and wall-mounted mop sinks, mostly in stainless steel.

How do I choose a mop sink?

Start with the space. Mop sinks are typically a lot larger than the sinks you wash dishes in, so measure for the sink itself and for the person using it.

Then think about where it goes. Keep it away from the main food prep area so cooking and cleaning stay in separate zones. Depending on the layout and the space you have, you will also need to decide between a wall-mounted and a floor-mounted model.

Material matters more than it does on a standard sink. Stainless steel is easier to clean and harder-wearing than plastic or ceramic.

Finally, consider whether you want any additional features like a splashback to protect the walls or additional taps and rinse jets to make cleaning easier.

Why stainless steel?

Because it is hard-wearing and it will not corrode or degrade under the strong cleaning agents that go into a mop sink. Ours are made from stainless steel, and 304 stainless steel is the food-safety grade used in Australian commercial kitchens.

What is the difference between wall-mounted and floor-mounted mop sinks?

Both wall-mounted and floor-mounted mop sinks have their own benefits but are oriented slightly differently. Wall-mounted options are attached to the wall, typically leaving space underneath, which you can use to store your bucket between mopping sessions. However, they are slightly higher, so it may be more of a challenge to empty heavy buckets for staff. Floor mop sinks offer less storage space underneath but are easier to empty dirty water into.

How do I keep it clean?

Spray it down after each shift with antibacterial spray and leave it 5 to 10 minutes, or use diluted bleach if you prefer. Where dirt is building up, wear gloves and scrub it with an abrasive sponge or cloth, then rinse with clean water and leave it to dry.

Do they come with taps?

No, our mop sinks come without taps. You can fit a water-saving tap if you want to cut water use.

How do I install a mop sink?

Unless you already have a compatible tap in place, a professional needs to do it. They set up the drainage and the taps and leave the job compliant. Depending on how much work is involved, you may also need a permit.

We have installation partners who can come and take care of everything for you, along with any other kitchen appliances that require more specialty skills, including anything that requires gas, electricity or plumbing, like hobs, dishwashers and deep fryers.

Is there an option for a small kitchen?

Mop sinks are built larger than conventional sinks because they handle more water, so in a tight space you may need to move where it goes, or run a designated commercial sink for cleaning with a separate sink for dishes.

What else are commercial stainless steel kitchen mop sinks called?

You will see commercial kitchen mop sink used for the same kind of equipment. The name changes with the supplier and the region, not the job it does.
