A commercial ice crusher turns cubes, nuggets or blocks of ice into crushed ice for cocktails, iced drinks and chilled display. It sits on the bench at the bar, so staff crush ice as the drinks are made rather than carting it in, and it widens what you can put on the drinks list alongside the rest of your beverage equipment.

Our commercial ice crushers include small benchtop machines for a single bar up to higher-output models for a venue crushing through a rush, so you can buy the size that suits your business at its current size, then size up as your business grows. Hourly output is listed per model, and we deliver anywhere in Australia.

These are the top FAQs for Commercial Ice Crushers

What ice can I put in it?

That depends on the model, so check the manufacturer's guidelines for the one you are looking at before you put a format through it.

Commercial ice crushers are built to be hard-wearing and to get through high volumes. If you have an ice maker, cubes, nuggets and blocks of ice can all go in and come out as chipped ice.

How do I choose one for my bar?

Start with how much crushed ice you get through on an average working day. Then look at the bench space you have: some models are compact, others take up more room.

Depending on your storage, you may also want a station near a commercial freezer so you can keep pre-prepared crushed ice in bulk.

What output do I need?

If you are a smaller venue, or you only need crushed ice for a few menu items, a smaller crusher is usually enough. For high turnover, or to cover a rush where a lot of ice is needed in a short window, a higher-output model is the better option. Hourly output is stated per model on the product page — size it against your busiest hour rather than your daily total.

Work from how much you use in an average hour. If you would rather talk it through, contact the team at REO and we can give you a personal recommendation.

How do I clean it?

Cleaning matters for hygiene and for how long the machine lasts. Models vary, but many have detachable parts that can go into a commercial dishwasher. Check the moving parts regularly as well, and lubricate them where the manual says to.

What safety features should I look for?

Fully waterproof buttons come first, so the machine is safe to use when you are crushing ice in bulk.

Some models have guards that keep stray chipped ice off the operator and the workstation, and slip guards on the feet to hold the machine in place while it runs.

Most importantly, look for an emergency stop button or switch in case something goes wrong mid-use.

How noisy are they?

Crushing ice makes noise, and how much depends on the ice and the model. Machines with more powerful, higher-capacity motors are louder. You can prepare crushed ice away from the bar area, or look for a model with noise-reduction features.

Can it crush blocks as well as cubes?

On the right model, yes. Higher-powered machines get through cubes and blocks, and some have settings for how fine the chips come out.

How long do they last?

Stick to brands with a track record like Apuro, Benchstar and Yasaki. Made from stainless steel and kept clean, they run for several years before you notice a drop in performance.

What else are commercial ice crushers called?

You will see commercial ice crusher machine, industrial ice crusher machine, industrial ice crusher and professional ice crusher machine used for the same kind of equipment. The name changes with the supplier and the region, not the job it does. Compare models on capacity, construction and the specification on each product page, and check the full commercial ice crushers range to see every option side by side.
