Should I buy this or a freezer room?
Buy the cabinet if the floor plan rules out a walk-in, or if the freezer may need to move later. Otherwise a freezer room gives you more capacity per dollar.
What happens if the refrigeration fails?
Most large cabinets run one refrigeration system, so a failure affects all six doors at once. Splitting the same storage across two cabinets means you do not lose everything in one go.
Keep a service contact on file and clean the condenser monthly.
Manual or automatic defrost?
At this size, automatic. Nobody is emptying six doors of stock to defrost a cabinet by hand, and automatic defrost holds performance steady while the kitchen keeps working.
If frost keeps returning, the cause is a seal or an airflow problem rather than the defrost cycle.
When does a door seal need replacing?
Six doors means six seals, so check them as a set. Ice around a door, condensation on the frame, or a seal that no longer grips a sheet of paper shut all point to the same thing.
One worn seal keeps the compressor running for the whole cabinet, and a replacement seal is the cheapest repair there is.
